I started my apprenticeship in Cambridge, MA in 1973 and became self-employed in 1978. I opened up my own shop working with my brother, Jim, out of my basement in Cambridge. I received my Master plumbing license, rented office space on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge and was off and running with local service work as New Dimensions. In 1983, I moved with my wife and baby daughter to the Sunapee Lake region of New Hampshire and started a plumbing and heating business working mainly on new construction, including many of the new houses and commercial projects happening at that time in central New Hampshire. This gave me a completely different kind of experience than what I had gained in Cambridge, working primarily on older homes, where fixing the existing systems and equipment was of paramount importance. My time in New Hampshire expanded my expertise, such that I was now fully knowledgeable about new construction for residential and commercial plumbing.
In 1991 I moved back to Cambridge and hung out a shingle once again. With the reputation I had gained through New Dimensions, the recommendations of loyal customers, and just plain word-of-mouth, I was soon working full-time once again.
The Lucey Company opened an office at 236 Trapelo Road in Belmont Mass in February 2006. The expansion to Belmont offered me the chance to expand my service business to include the many older homes in the neighborhood around the office, where my knowledge of older systems--including when things can be fixed and when they really need to be replaced--would be put to best use. My aim was to create a friendly, reliable, community-based service business, the "local plumber" so to speak, in a place where none seemed yet to exist. My main goal is and has always been complete customer satisfaction, and this is now evidenced not only by my customers in Cambridge, Somerville, and Arlington, but now in Belmont, Watertown and even Waltham, too. We look forward to working with you and your family for any of your plumbing and heating needs.
